Our Services

Individual Therapy

At Goyos & Associates, we offer individual therapy in a private, one-on-one setting—either in-person at our West Palm Beach clinic or securely through HIPAA-compliant virtual teletherapy.

This type of therapy allows you to work collaboratively with a licensed mental health professional to better understand your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Whether you're navigating everyday stress or more complex emotional challenges, our goal is to help you develop the tools to create meaningful, lasting change.

Individual therapy is especially beneficial for those experiencing:

  • Mood disorders such as anxiety or depression

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Grief and loss

  • Addiction and substance use issues

  • Self-esteem or identity struggles

  • Life transitions or chronic stress

Our multidisciplinary team includes psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, and a board-certified psychiatrist. We tailor your treatment plan based on your comfort level, preferences, and presenting symptoms.

Family Therapy

Strengthening Bonds, Resolving Conflict, and Restoring Communication

Family dynamics can be complex, and even the most connected families may face periods of conflict, disconnection, or stress. At Goyos & Associates, our skilled therapists are here to help families navigate these challenges and reestablish healthy, supportive relationships.

Families often encounter unique stressors such as:

  • Divorce or separation

  • Grief and loss

  • Behavioral issues in children or adolescents

  • Chronic illness or caregiving responsibilities

  • Addiction and substance use

  • Mood and anxiety disorders affecting one or more members

Our clinicians utilize Structured Family Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help:

  • Realign family roles and expectations

  • Rebuild secure emotional bonds

  • Resolve ongoing conflict

  • Restore effective communication

The primary goal is to help the family function as a cohesive, healthy unit while supporting each member in developing positive interactions and emotional resilience.

Session Format and Approach:

Family therapy sessions at Goyos & Associates are 90 minutes long to allow adequate time for each member’s perspective to be heard and addressed. The specific structure and focus of the session will depend on the challenges your family is currently facing.

We recognize that issues such as addiction or mental health conditions often impact the entire family—not just the individual diagnosed. Our team is specially trained to support families in understanding and responding to these situations with compassion, insight, and actionable strategies.

Couples Therapy

Rebuilding Connection Through Evidence-Base, Reality-Oriented Care

At Goyos & Associates, our couples program combines reality-based therapy with both emotional focused and Gottman informed practices to offer a multifaceted, personalized strategy for relationship growth and healing.

Relationships can be challenging—but they’re often worth repairing. Whether you're facing issues related to communication breakdowns, addiction, infidelity, co-parenting, emotional distance, or the impact of mental health conditions, our team is here to support you.

Through structured sessions, couples will learn to:

  • Communicate needs effectively
  • Manage emotional reactivity
  • Rebuild trust and intimacy
  • Work collaboratively toward shared goals

Our goal is to help couples move from conflict to connection, using practical tools that foster deeper understanding and long-term relational health.

Common Issues We Help Couples Navigate:

At Goyos & Associates, our couples counseling program is designed to address a wide range of challenges that can strain even the strongest partnerships. Some of the most common issues we work through with couples include:

Address emotional distance, physical disconnection, or mismatched needs to restore closeness and affection.
  • Addiction and Recovery Support
Understand the impact of addiction on the relationship and work together to support recovery, boundaries, and shared accountability.

  • Major Life Transitions
Whether you're adjusting to new parenthood, relocation, or career shifts, we help couples stay connected during times of change.

The Gottman Method

The Gottman Method is a structured, research-based approach to couples therapy developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, grounded in over 40 years of clinical research on what makes relationships succeed or fail.

At its core, the method emphasizes that healthy couples maintain a ratio of five positive interactions to every negative one, as negative behaviors like contempt and defensiveness can be especially damaging. Therapy focuses on improving communication, managing conflict, and strengthening emotional connection through tools that promote affection, trust, and shared meaning.

Couples begin treatment with a comprehensive assessment and work collaboratively with the therapist to explore the dynamics of their relationship, develop practical skills for connection, and learn to navigate difficult issues like infidelity, emotional distance, or recurring arguments.

The method is applicable to couples of all backgrounds and stages, and it is especially helpful for those feeling stuck, emotionally disconnected, or overwhelmed by unresolved conflict. The framework is anchored in the “Sound Relationship House,” a model that helps partners build love maps, nurture fondness and admiration, turn toward one another, and cultivate trust and long-term commitment.

Therapy is always conducted with both partners present, and sessions aim to enhance mutual understanding rather than place blame. Certified Gottman Method therapists receive advanced training from the Gottman Institute and are uniquely equipped to guide couples toward lasting relationship health.

No matter where you are on your mental health journey, Goyos & Associates is here to support you with compassionate, personalized care. Whether you're seeking individual growth, stronger relationships, or family healing, our experienced team is ready to help you take the next step toward lasting wellness.
