Our Therapeutic Modalities

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life

CBT is a time-limited, skills-based therapy designed to help individuals identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. Research consistently shows that CBT is highly effective for:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Addiction
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Panic Disorder
  • Stress-related conditions

What to Expect in a CBT Session:

CBT sessions are typically 45 minutes for individual therapy and may be extended for group therapy (up to 2 hours). You'll learn to identify cognitive distortions, challenge them with realistic alternatives, and engage in behavioral experiments between sessions.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Rapid Trauma Relief Led by Certified Specialists

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based psychotherapy developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro to help individuals recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, phobias, and complicated grief.

EMDR is unique in that it does not rely solely on talk therapy or traditional cognitive interventions. Instead, it uses bilateral stimulation—such as guided eye movements, tapping, or auditory tones—to activate both hemispheres of the brain. This process helps individuals reprocess distressing memories, reducing their emotional intensity and allowing the brain to reframe them in a healthier, less distressing way.

Who Can Benefit from EMDR?

EMDR is highly effective for individuals who have experienced:

  • Trauma (recent or childhood)
  • Sexual assault or domestic violence
  • Combat or first responder trauma
  • Car accidents or medical trauma
  • Sudden loss or complicated grief
  • Performance anxiety or phobias

It can also be useful for people who haven’t responded well to traditional talk therapy alone.

Why EMDR?

Unlike traditional therapies that may take years, EMDR often provides relief in fewer sessions, particularly for trauma-related symptoms. Research has shown it to be one of the most efficient and well-supported treatments for PTSD and trauma-related disorders.

“EMDR is the most thoroughly researched method for treating trauma, and is recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO), Department of Veterans Affairs, and the American Psychological Association.” — Van der Kolk, 2022

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Build a Life Worth Living

Developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan, DBT is a structured and skills-focused therapy used to treat:

  • Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
  • Self-harming behaviors
  • Emotional dysregulation

Skills Modules Include:

  • Mindfulness
  • Distress Tolerance
  • Emotion Regulation
  • Interpersonal Effectiveness

Our DBT-trained clinicians offer individual sessions, group skills training, and between-session coaching.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy (MBT)

Integrating Meditation, Movement, and Mind

MBT combines elements of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). It is particularly effective for:

  • Stress and anxiety
  • Chronic pain
  • Depression relapse prevention
  • Addiction recovery

Program Structure:

Typically includes group sessions, guided home practice, and may be enhanced by individual therapy.

Reality Therapy (RT)

Live in Harmony with the Present

Reality Therapy (or Choice Theory) is a form of cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy that emphasizes personal responsibility, practical problem-solving, and living in the here and now. This approach is especially effective for:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Addiction
  • OCD
  • Stress management

What to Expect:

Sessions are typically 45 minutes and may include the WDEP model (Wants, Doing, Evaluation, Planning) to help you reflect on your actions and make meaningful behavioral changes.

Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)

Strengthen Your Relationships and Emotional Support System

IPT focuses on resolving issues in four key areas:

  • Grief and loss
  • Role disputes
  • Role transitions
  • Interpersonal deficits

Research shows IPT is as effective as CBT in treating depression and is also helpful for anxiety and social difficulties.
